No, I don't think it would have been better as a series. The movie was done properly and I enjoyed watching it.

The novel's are actually going to be turned into a TV series for the next generation! I am excited to watch that and I hope they cover more details from the books then the movies did! Though it will be weird to watch Harry Potter without the three original actors!
