The Wheel of Time TV Series

I've just learned that Amazon Prime will be making a Wheel of Time TV series. So far the only information about the show is that Rosamund Pike will be playing Moraine. This and many other fantasy series are going to getting adaptations due to the popularity of Game of Thrones.

I've been following this as it develops. Brandon Sanderson may be involved somehow also. Though I've only run into some comments he made about the show being somewhat different that the books. But that is true of all books converted. Especially the Epic's that Jordan produced for the Wheel of Time.

Considering what an epic it is, I think adapting it will be difficult. I am curious about it, though I have a track record of disliking and book to movie/tv show that i've seen if I've read the book(s). I think what bothers me about this is that it's riding on the tail feathers of the popularity of Game of Thrones. So now a ton of fantasy novels will get made into a movie or tv show. Basically it's gone from YA novels to adult fantasy novels. It's all just a fad.

I hope Sanderson is involved. I couldn't make it past Lord of Chaos though. There is way too much filler and description in the books for me. I know the show is definitely going to cut a chunk out like GOT and I might like it more.

Hopefully it'll be good? Streaming services seem to have better track records with fantasy than network tv and with Sanderson's involvement it'd be interesting to see what happens.

I could see this, but agreed with the amount of filler in WoT. That said, if it's tight and minimizes WoT's
many subplots, I might watch.

I am crazy excited about this!!! I have been reading and re-reading this series for 15+ years. I picked up the first book when I was 15 and will continue to go back to the series. The trailers look amazing! While I am sad that it took this long to come out, I am excited because of where technology is and the effects should be amazing!

Have you watched the show now that it is out? I have watched the show up to date, but I am debating reading the books. Are they similar or are the books better?

I just finished the first season and this is the first I'm hearing of the book series. I'm excited to read all 15 of them.

I haven't read the book for The Wheel of Time but I have seen the show and I have to say that I loved it. As far as fantasy adaptations go, this was incredible. I felt the plot was flushed out really well and the characters were diverse and interesting. Rosamund Pike was a great choice as well. I could watch the show over and over, to be honest.
