This is a no hate question but rather a discussion I'm interested to hear other's perspectives on

In my perspective, I find movies' use of camera angles and shots to be rather effective - giving more suspense and setting the scenes better, however books on the other hand provide deeper meaning and complexity into the character by letting us know their inner thoughts.

Would like to hear your thoughts!

Movies are visual; books are imaginative. Movies are less time consuming than books. Books are bound to get too descriptive; you could read two pages of a book where the author keeps describing the colour of a tree's leaf. Movies are passive; ideal for lazy people who get overwhelmed by a book. I love books by the way

Visuals and sometimes the creators of the movie has better imagination than me. Great example is lord of the rings.

Movies portrays and conveys more of the visual aspect which mostly turn out entertaining. But books sort great an avenue for imagination.

I find movies give much more detail and emotion than movies. And a movie usually lacks all the imaginative quality's to you picture from reading.

Movies bring one's imagination to reality in a visual form. They give that excitement and thrill.

Movies are able to create the visual scenes. But books have always been able to go into more detail and really tell the story more.

Books are way more detailed and can give you a lot more background information than movies since movie usually are restricted to what they can show within about 120min. And I really like about books that everyone can imagine the character in their own way while with a movie you actually get a actor associated with that character and after seeing them it is really hard (at least for me) to imagine them in another way.
But movies can show you grand scenries and fantastic places you might not be able to completly imagine just from reading the book.

Books are more informative than the movies. It enhanace your imagination as well. A good movie can provide the visual aspect to match that imagination, however, whether it is more informative than what the book provide is debatable.

I agree with you in the fact the camera angles really add to the suspense. Another thing is the music. It adds so much to movies and that’s usually something books can’t get the effect of.

tell you a whole story in a short period of time

even though you don't get to know the story in full depth, you kind of get the main ideas real quick

I think that sometimes movies put a better image of a certain scene, act, or sentiment in our minds than when we read it.

The only reason I would prefer film to books is the time factor.
