"IT" the movie, was it worth the hype? Lessons learned?

The masses have recently been focusing on the new Stephen King based movie, "IT". I have heard conflicting views about how spectacular it is and others about how poorly it was executed. What do you think? Was it a good movie? did it have lessons to be learned? why do you think it got popular?
