Wicked

I just went to the play "Wicked ". I have never read the book. Has anyone read the book? Is it as good as the play? I found the play to be exceptional ! Just wondering if I should read the book next. Or will I be disappointed?

I have both read the book and seen the play. I much preferred the play. The book was a bit confusing as to why certain things were happening at times.
