I would consider the NewsFlesh series by Mira Grant sci-fi. It is a zombie story, but the focus is more on the characters and the post-apocalyptic world than fighting zombies(though there is definitely zombie fighting!). Even if, like me, you aren't typically a fan of zombie stories, I think you would enjoy this series. I really liked the back story she came up with about how the zombie virus was created.

great fantasy books include pf course, harry potter and percy jackson. Carry on, The Siren, Tiger Lily, A Throne of Glass, Red Queen.And as for sci fi books: Divergent series, The Firebird Trilogy, Shatter Me series, Cinder, Starters, Passenger, Wayfarer

Great thread. I would recommend the Chronicles of Narnia Series and The Space Trilogy Series both by C.S Lewis.
