Laurell K. Hamilton has a series called Anita Blake. The first book was a little hard for me to get through but it was still good and i have enjoyed each book since then. There is a total of 24 books. I know she has another series but im not sure what it is called off the top of my head..

The Vampire Academy series by Rachelle Mead is pretty good, but I think that I actually like the spin-off series, Bloodlines, more. You also might like the Blood of Eden series by Julie Kagawa.

Check out Vampire Outbreak by our very own, @joefowler, and his first book, the Demon Heritage of Josh Thorne. You will love them!

I recently read a book called Blood Song. I really enjoyed it, however my friend who is a few years younger than me said she got too bored before she finished reading it. I'm pretty sure she doesn't even like vampire books but anyway. It isn't exactly a 'vampire' book but it is basically about a similar creature. Might not be what you're looking for but I absolutely loved it. I've yet to find a library that has the second book in the series though.

I'm racking my brains but I think i've only read two 'vampire' novels in my life...Dracula, obviously..and Stephen King's Salem's Lot. Really can't remember any others.

The series you are talking about is Merideth Gentry :) Detective and Faerie Princess. This series I loved more than the Anita one since the Anita one had fallen off the adventure track...

If anyone here likes romance novels and would like a totally different spin on Vampires try the books by Lyndsay Sands in the Argeneau series www.lynsaysands.net/books/argeneau I love this series and am always looking out for the new ones, even the short stories!

I'm not usually one to go for the vampire genre, but I did enjoy reading Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey. It's considered a YA novel, and it was a pretty quick read for me, but I remember thoroughly enjoying it. Hope this helps! :)

I'd recommend the Sabina Kane series by Jaye Wells. The series is complete and is five books long not including novellas. The main character is a vampire/mage assassin. She's totally awesome. The writing is intriguing and in my opinion well written. It is not completely dominated by vampires, but they are a big factor.

I'm not sure how many people have mentioned this one already, but I love anything by Richelle Mead. She's got a nice collection of both adult and young adult books. Her Vampire Academy series is about 6 books, with a spin-off series of similar size. They're YA, but they're also fantastically written and she builds an amazing world of three species of vampires. Don't let the series name fool you, the books get better and better, and the first one is already pretty great.

The Charlaine Harris books (True Blood) are pretty good and a series by Sharon Hannaford (The Hellcat Series) is a supernatural series with vampires among others...

I'm getting ready to start book 8 in the Shade of a Vampire series. It is a pretty good series. As cliche as it sounds, I was a big twilight saga fan, and this series was advertised as comparable to them. Other than the books both having a slight romantic air with undying love, I don't see a lot of other similarities. The story lines are very different down to the attitudes of the vampires and physical attributes of the vampires. It is interesting in a completely different way. I must say though I did read other things between reading the first 7 books. One mistake I made was reading Sylvia Day's A touch of crimson as one of my in between books. It has vampires in it too, but again shown completely differently.

I recommend the Morganville Vampires by Rachelle Caine. Not your typical love story but the plot and the characters got me hooked and i couldnt put it down.

When you mention Vampire books the first to pop into my mind are the Stephenie Meyers "Twilight" books. I really enjoyed reading all four of these books and loved the movies just as much.
Another series which, like the Twilight books, falls into the Young Adult genre is the "Evernight" series by Claudia Gray. There are five books in this series: Evernight, Stargazer,Hourglass, Afterlife, and Balthazar. Hope this has been helpful to you!
