Any recommendations in the historical fiction genre are welcome

. Preferably books that are grounded in actual events or specific timeline that aren't heavy on the romance. Thank you.

Have you read The Saxon Series by Bernard Cornwell? Wilbur Smith is also great, I especially liked his Egyptian and Courtney series.

Hey, it's been a while but if you are looking again, I highly recommend Civilizations : A Novel by Laurent Binet. It's alternate history but it's so wonderfully crafted and written that you'll fell it could have happened.

A few years ago I've read The Boy Who Granted Dreams by Luca Di Fulvio.
The book is set in the 1920s and follows an Italian immigrant and her young son as she starts a new life in New York. It's a rather long book, but I really enjoyed it.

I would recommend "The Secret River," by Kate Granville.
