Historical Romance Reads

Hi! I'm Kimberly and I'm in somewhat of a slump. I need suggestions for my next historical romance novel/read. I absolutely love Julie Garwood! Anything like or close to her writing would be wonderful if you could help out!

I recommend anything by Lisa Kleypas, Julia Quinn, Sabrina Jeffries, Lynsay Sands, Nicole Jordan, Teresa Medeiros. Those are a few authors that have wonderful series.

I completely and sincerely recommend Heather Boyd's books!!!! I just finished reading Distinguished Rogues series, and I intend to continue with more from this writer.

Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series is a great historical romance! It's beautifully written, super sexy, and includes elements of fanasy and adventure as well.

Gabaldon's Outlander series is excellent. I also recently fell in love with Daisy Goodwin. Her books are American Heiress and Fortune Hunter. Sarah Waters' Fingersmith is great, although I'm not sure that's romance.

Stephanie Laurens is a very good writer and has a large selection. Also good is Nicole Jordan. If you like your historical romances a little more spicy Susan Johnson is your girl. Enjoy all of the wonderful choices out there.

Quite a quick but pleasing read is "The Quietness" by Alison Rattle.

It's based in the slums of Victorian London. I'd recommend giving it a search online because I can't really say anymore without spoiling the plot. It's tense and filled with dramatic.

I would say it's loosely based on the historical period, but not so much true historical figures alive at that time. It's definitely a great fictional read.

Looking for a romance novel that is not the same story as everybody else is writing . Less sex more romance of the real world . The good old spontaneity ideas. The kind your jealous of your friends and sisters have it . When you can not see the romance is a surprise who ends up with who .

YES!!! If you like Julie Garwood, you will love Judith McNaught's historical romances. In fact, her Whitney, My Love was the romance that started the whole subgenre of regency romances. It's a classic. I also particularly enjoyed her Once and Always.

Another historical romance you would enjoy if you like Julie Garwood is The Rainbow Season by Candace Camp. It is a simple, sweet story that is so tender. There's a sequel, The Rainbow Promise. It's all right but, IMO, not quite as good as The Rainbow Season.

Catherine Anderson has written some historicals, too. My all-time favorites of hers are actually modern romaces: Baby Love and it's sequel, Phantom Waltz. It has the tenderness that I really enjoy in Garwood's books. If you try any of these, let me know what you think!
