Newbie from Pa.!

Hello to all from the happy hamlet of Olyphant, Pa!
Where our moto is, "Hanna-er-no", the gene pool is a swamp!
I'm here to get over the hump!
Like all?some? maybe 1 er2? I'd like to get published.
So first here's my problem.....................
It's not writing, I've been writing since I was a kid, got 100000000000000 ideas like toilet paper in my head.
Got a bunch of stories, poems, songs all over the place.
I just don't LIKE the business end.
Years ago(before I got custody of my kids and I had to stop and be Mr. Mom), I was in a few bands.
Like all bands, we wanted a recording deal. I did a LOT of the leg work, and deals, and frankly, it turned me off. I quit playing out, sold my stuff, (well most of it).
My stories have been collecting dust until now cuz I feel like if I gotta do the business end, it's not fun anymore, it's business and, well, I don't want that, it too much fun.
My youngest is graduating from highschool next year, is turning 18 in a few days.
So, I figure it's time to see if I can get SOMETHING published.
but how,how how?
I haven't a clue on the next step
Self publishing? Do I have the $$ to do that?????????? nope, (at least I don't think so).
advice on that please.
Is there somewhere you can send your stories, and they do all the leg work??
Money isn't the motivation here. I just think it'd be sooooooo freakin cool to see a BOOK with your name on it!
I thought about going and getting one of those books with ALL the publishers address in it and start there.
Advice???
