My default is always Steampunk, but that covers a wide range of genres itself. That's why I love it! I can get a mystery, a romance, something supernatural and/or something technological. I think I'm drawn to it because I love the history of the Victorian era and the aesthetic is gorgeous even if a story takes place outside of real history.

I enjoy history, supernatural, self-help, books based on a true story, and autobiography. Books with plot twists that you don't expect also make for a good read for me. I've never really been into romantic books though.

I tend to find myself leaning towards historical romance fiction! No specific period, although I tend to find most are either medieval or Victorian. This isn't exclusively, of course, and I read a lot of non-historical romance too, but there you go!

Fantasy has always been my go to. I have enjoyed a lot of the Urban Fantasy books that have come out recently. If I can't find a good fantasy book, then sci-fi is my next choice. The only books I steer clear of in this genre are the post-apocalyptic, zombie worlds. The description has to be pretty compelling for me to pick one of those up.

Romance with manners. I like some magic thrown in, or a ghost or two, or a bumbling psychic. I like books that make me laugh. There should always be love: couples, families, friends, community, animals, trees, the planet. Romantic people on other planets are interesting too.

My go to is a mystery. I love a book where I am still questioning "who did it" at the end.

My go to genre no matter what is Contemporary Romance. No matter what is going on in my life I can always find a book in this genre that will either help me escape for a little while when I need a breather or it will help me put on my big girl panties so to speak and make stuff happen.

Whether I read about college love or sports romance or even a book about an MC my day is always brighter and I tend to find more book boyfriends which is awesome because I have yet to find the perfect man.
