This is my second book in this genre. The Mindset by Ace Bowers completely altered my perception of personal growth. It is not your typical self-help book but rather a true-life story that demonstrates how an ordinary janitor turned into a Silicon Valley millionaire by simply changing his mindset.

What I liked the most in this book is the honesty with which the author writes. He writes that he was stuck on a hamster wheel, running in endless circles, and this made me connect more with the book. I had moments when I stared at the mirror and questioned myself whether I was really improving or not, just like the author describes that he stares at mop water and questions himself, “Is this really all my future holds?”

The actual twist takes place as the author is notified that he is going to become a father. When he looked at that rearview mirror, he says it was an experience as he looked into the past; all those painful memories flooded his conscious mind. His particular stories are very touching because such a generalized state of astonishment was made into an inspiration.

There was nothing to dislike in this book. I came across few errors in the book, but they did not interfere with my reading. The author kept repeating the significant facts, like the fact that never in life is something wasted in time until you learn something out of it, and his repetitiveness assisted in helping me recall the lesson long after I finished reading the book.

Whether you have always felt lost or confused, or you have ever looked at yourself and not been sure of your capabilities, this book will help you remember that change begins with a single idea and a single step at a time. This is why I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars, as I find it a motivating book, although straightforward and very useful.
