Matthew resides with his parents and young sister, Edna, in San Francisco. He has a fascination with dogs, and he constantly asks his parents to get him one, but they always remind him that he can get a dog when they move out of the city. Thus, he continues to become a dog walker for his neighbors, but will he be able to own a dog of his own someday?

Corky, the Three-Legged Dog by Ronald Arne Saetermoe is an inspiring children’s book that focuses on the story of an innocent boy with a compassionate nature and affection for dogs. I personally like the cover very much, and as such, it is very eye-catching combined with the title. The illustrations are done astonishingly well, and the bright colors will definitely grab the attention of the children.

The use of the black font for the text on the colorful background proves to be a wise choice since it makes the text easily distinguishable. I like that in the ebook version I read, I did not have to zoom in, as I was able to read the text and also see the illustrations at the same time. This small aspect will go a long way in its execution since it will ensure that the children are fully attentive and not distracted in any way as they read the book.

The best thing any parent can hope to find in a book they are choosing for their child is the lessons and the values contained in the story, and the author was simply brilliant in choosing nice moral lessons for this book. This is one of the best children’s stories that can be recommended for reading to children, as it details the concepts of being compassionate and responsible.

I find this book perfect in every way, as I did not notice any editorial mistakes, which enhanced its quality, thus receiving 5 out of 5 stars since I have nothing to comment on or complain about. There are so many attractions in this wonderful children’s story that I will gladly suggest it to kids from 3 to 8 years old.

I love books like this that teach children good behaviors like compassion and responsibility. There should be more books like this in school curriculums.

I love it when children's stories combine fun and values. But the part you mentioned about not having to zoom in to read the text is my favorite and puts the book on my WTR list. Because I always suffer with ebooks in this matter. Thank you for nicely detailed review Omneya!

This review is heartwarming! I love stories that teach compassion and responsibility to kids. Do you think Corky's character will help children embrace differences in others?
