"The Art of Entertaining," written by Maggie Fleming, offers tips on how to host or attend events without getting overwhelmed. Irrespective of the kind of event you are hosting or attending, you are likely to find in this book some tips to help you have a wonderful time.

I was impressed by the resources invested into the book's layout. The background color choice, the headings, the font size, the pictures, line spacing, page numbering, character spacing, and all that were given due attention, and these made my reading enjoyable. Next is the presentation. Maggie has gained a good amount of experience as an event manager and as a host and guest for many parties. I liked that they presented their thoughts on this subject in a clear, short, and digestible manner.

In each of the events covered in this book, the author starts with a brief comment followed by what a host or a guest should do before and during the event. The author has really excelled in this field because there were certain points they noted that I never thought about. Take, for instance, their comment on taking note of a guest's belief and what they might feel comfortable with. Another is the author's advice to know when to leave as a guest. Things like this might seem common but can be embarrassing in certain situations. The suggestions for what to bring as a guest were also helpful. I understood the wisdom in making intentional choices when picking gifts for people. The tips on how to handle pets were thoughtful additions.

This book gives readers a simple roadmap to have a great event: one that is fun, respectful, and worthy of having again, and for this reason, I rate it five out of five stars. I do not have any complaints to report, as the work is informative, well formatted, and accessible.
