I would not choose to become immortal. As previously mentioned there are way to many things to have to worry about. The first and foremost being that I need the people I love. Plus, I believe I'm headed to Jesus when I die so I wouldn't want to miss out on that!

Although, there are so many things I feel like I don't have time to do that I want to. Reading thousands of books, drawing, writing, and crocheting to name a few. Then again, if I don't have time now would I have time as an immortal? I would still have to make a living right?

I would if that includes staying young and healthy forever, i would hate to get older and older for the eternity and forget what i did in the past. Eternal life and youth sounds very atractive, imagine the posibilities! what you would see and learn through the ages would be amazing, Im very curious, so i would love to see what the future holds for human kind, but i will only have a few decades to see it and 80 years of development might be a lot but imagine, how would the world be like in 500 year? i dont know but would definitely like to see it.

There are certainly pros and cons to this decision. On one hand, you could have so much time to discover things and cross things off your bucket list. Not to mention all the time to read and collect books! However, I wouldn't know how the world would handle an immortal, and I wouldn't want to be a science project, or stalked, awed, or wanted for dead my whole life. And to witness your loved ones dying! That would be constant heartbreak. But, you can see your descendants grow up and the generations to come. So... considering all of this, I say I would probably become immortal.

Not without a fundamental change to my body, mind, and character. As C.S. Lewis has pointed out, a minor character flaw could become positively hellish in a few hundred years.

Such brilliant enthusiasm! Wonderful. Yes, it's true that having eternal youth would make it so much better.

The Researcher wrote:No I dont think I will want to become an immortal. It would be like exchanging many new exciting lives for an eternally long old one. Or in terms of books it would be like reading a very very long book instead of getting a chance to explore many more new titles and authors :eusa-think:

I would want so many things to be different to really want to be immortal my answer is basically no. If I could live without my physical or mental health issues and be joined in immortality by friends and family, maybe. I think a longer life, especially for those I'm close to, would be preferable to immortality. I can't help but think that along with living forever would come feelings of apathy about the world and living in general, that sounds awful - to stop caring.

Interesting question.. Well, I don't think I'd like to an immortal because that means everyone you love will eventually die or leave you. I wouldn't like to end alone.

I would choose to become immortal.

I used to wonder about this and debate with myself, but then I started playing Sims3 and it was pretty obvious what my answer was - I spent my first "lifetime" learning how to make Ambrosia, and then feeding it to my Sim to make her immortal so she could learn all the skills/get super rich/etc. I like the idea of having all the time in the world to get good at whatever I want to! You would never run out of things to do :)

There is a short answer and a long answer (just like life.... :( ...)

Short:
Yes. I would choose immortality.Live forever and ever and ever!

Long:
Depends, I would need to know a lot more before I decide.
As other members had mentioned, do I age, or am I going to stay at a age of my choosing?
How would I earn an income to survive? How would the government treat me seeing I am alive for hundreds of years (old age pension forever 8) )
Do I need to eat?

I am a fan of Chinese novels (Xianxia and wuxia). Their version of immortality is that their life span is stretched out by hundreds of years, and if they reach a certain level in their cultivation, they will not die from aging. They will still get old, but it will take them a long long time for that.
Food and water is optional, and they can mediate for years without waking up.
They get awesome powers, and they can fly!
If that's immortality, why not?

Depends on the necessity. If there is some vital pending task which is a unique task, only but me can perform for the well-being of existence of the lives in this universe, then I should have to be immortal.

Of course! When you have all the time in the world, one could pursue all their favourite hobbies!!!

Definitely not. While the thought of death does scare me, the thought of not dying is almost scarier. Seeing everyone you've ever known passing away like that has to do more harm than the reality of mortality. I don't think I could deal with the unending heartbreak.

I wouldn't want to become immortal. It would seem a good thing at first, but eventually I would regret it. Imagine, all the lives you could save by not worrying about dying. You could be a firefighter and rescue those in burning buildings, a police officer and save those in harm's way, or a doctor who never tired, devoting eternity to their patients. But with the good comes the bad. You'd look the same as you do now, while everyone you know ages. Eventually all your loved ones die, and you're still alive. Everyone you ever knew is gone, and the next generation will soon pass as well. All you would feel is sadness and loneliness, never wanting to attach to anyone or anything, because everything will die but you. One day, far in the future, even the Earth will leave you, and you'll live out eternity floating through the galaxy alone, watching stars be born and die, over and over again.

Nice imagination. Thanks for sharing it with us. :tiphat:
When people say you've changed, it just means that you have stopped living your life, their way.
