Like the way each chapter's title belongs to one of adele's songs. Which gives one an idea of what kind of situation a character is about to experience, even before reading the specific chapter.

Yeah, it was a different way to pay tribute to Adele. And also I found the use of lyrics to sum up the situations quite good. The last line of the book was spot on.

Yes, of course! It’s even more wonderful when you connect with that particular song used! I also love how the author made it fit well with the chapters.

Watch any movie and I guarantee you that mood and tone are set by music, if not always then more often than not. We listen to music and it changes our mood as well. I listen to upbeat songs when I work because I need to be fast and efficient. When working out, people most often listen to motivational songs (or death metal).

If you're trying to express something through music, look at dancing. That is, look beyond the tango and all those dances that show vivid emotion. Look at ballet dancers who show their grace and poise. Or interpretive dance where dancers become authors of emotion.

In my own life, I use song to help me express those complex emotions that songwriters have somehow seemed to capture. If I can't find the words to speak to someone I love, sometimes Pink has the answer.

I agree!! More than words, it is often music which is in sync with a situation or emotion!! Certain movies re always associated with the soundtrack- and certain songs always remind a person of a time, feeling or a place! So yes, music helps in expressing one's situation more!

I think music is one of the most powerful forms of self expression in all areas of the human life. Music provides the opportunity to enhance the words that are telling the story. We not only hear the situation being represented by the music, but we are able to feel it as well so I definitely believe that music helps in expressing one's situation. It's an art form and art in general is a wonderful tool for aiding in expression.

One of my favorite quotes is: "When we are happy we enjoy the music, and when we are sad we understand lyrics."

I've never listened to Adele's music, but the way it was included in the novel worked well.

Yes, sometimes music best expresses what simple words in ordinary conversation fail to.

music is an extension of the soul and humans use it as some form of expression and release. Hence, of course, I believe it expresses one's situation.

There are times when you can't find the right words to say, or maybe not even the courage to say it. A song may have the words and may just set the right tone.

No matter what you are feeling in life you can guarantee that a song has been written about that situation or emotion. During my teenage years, when I was going through that 'difficult' phase of my life, I had so many conflicting emotions and a huge lack of self-confidence to express what I was truly feeling. I would be listening to a song and I suddenly I would think 'Yes! That is exactly what I am feeling'. I would then record the song and, when I needed to revisit the emotion or situation, I would play it. This helped me get things into perspective. Music has helped me maintain my sanity at many traumatic times in my life. It allowed me to express feelings that would otherwise be stored internally, which is not a very healthy thing to do.

Yes, I think music helps express a situation or person feelings. I like listening to the radio when I am feeling down or excited about something.
