Do you think its possible to receive respect and honour if you don't have money and power in today's world ?

Depends on the thinking of the person to give you the respect

Power and Pride is dangerous. It is the cause of different conflicts and begot different negative effects. Too many people will sacrifice their life to counterfeit.

well, that depends on situation, environment and gathering also. If people around you are aren't show off and materialistic and they admire things in a ways that they truly are. Then, you will be respected and honoured, doesn't matter if you have a penny in your account or billions. But unfortunately, if you are surrounded by people who worship money. Then, definitely you are gonna need money and power, that is gonna push them to respect you. That's reality

From a reality TV show that features people living together, I picked up a gem of a quote. "Respect is earned and not bought."

Respect that is given to the powerful and monied (who become so because of corruption) is only for show and for the expected benefits. Deep inside, these people think the worst of their corrupt benefactors.

It depends on who you care to have respect and honor from. Power and money do not guarantee respect and honor. Sometimes it can just force respect out of fear. There are many other characteristics of a person that can garner respect and honor over any amount of money. Power and money to make a lot of things happen, but those are not always one's priorities to live a respectful and honorable life.

Respect and power is relative. My drive in this respect would be selflessness. I only pursue money and power that is to aid others and make the world a better place and not to attain an idol status, in which case it then becomes self centered and hollow.

I think it is possible to be respected without having money or power if you have self respect and respect others. It is like they say, respect is reciprocal. But to every rule, there is an exception. Sometimes, it depends on the person from whom you expect the respect. People without the proper mindset will still disrespect people with self respect if they do not have power and money.

I believe that if you are a kind and generous person, you'll definitely earn people's respect. You don't need money or power to get it.

Respect comes out in different way it can be fear,power or even your main character which makes peaple to respect you, so I don't think money only can do that

Yes I do. Money isn't a substitute for true value. Value can go with money, but the most important thing is the person first before the possession. The right people will respect a respectable person, others will respect only what appears good. We must learn to see beyond the surface for both the rich and the poor.

Though difficult I think one can still get respwctband honour nowadays without having much money. It can be due to many different reasons. For example, one can command respect by simply maintaining some principles that many others can't. Or for heroic acts that they do. It's all possible for me.

I agree that power and pride are dangerous. They can not be the basis of respect.

Absolutely. A good man will always command respect in my book.
