I never used to be scared as a child, but once I got older I developed an irrational fear of not being able to see what was touching my legs or feet. I do not like seaweed wrapping around my legs! More than happy being in a boat.

Oh no! I feel your pain. The sea is so calming.. and soothing for me. You should try coming to the caribbean and just sitting by a window overlooking the sea... maybe eventually the sound may soothe you... id hope. Or buy one of those soundmaker thingamajigs. Lol. One of those that youncan use to put you to sleep. Maybe if you listen to it a couple of times you may be able to face your fears in person eventually. If you want to of course.
Between the pages of a book is a lovely place to be...

Because I cannot swim, I am afraid of drowning. It does not help that once I almost did drown. I really love the ocean, though. I hope to one day to learn how to swim and conquer my fear. It makes me sad that I can't go further than 5 feet in the ocean.

One day I want to learn to swim too. It's on my bucket list as well.

No i am not afraid of the sea, i believes that is the most great creation of God. It´s so excited to me to see the sun hiding behind the sea, it´s a good experience.

I'm not afraid of the sea but I do respect it a lot. The vastness and beauty of it is wonderful, but I learnt the hard way that it can also be very dangerous and hostile.

Yeah, I've read enough books to learn that the sea isn't as calm and serene as it might seem.

I am not afraid of the sea. I am afraid of drowning. I could be on the sea for a long period of time. However, it would have to be a very large boat (I am thinking cruise ship) to get me onboard.
Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him.

I have never really been to the sea but I am afraid of it. I think this is primarily because I can't swim. I don't want to imagine what could happen if my trip in the sea goes bad...

Positively so. From the top of my head, the only reason I can give is because I can't swim.

I am actually slightly afraid of the sea. I live in the Midwest and have only seen the sea once on a vacation to Florida. Maybe it comes from a lack of familiarity. There's a lot of things I've never experienced that I was anxious about, like stinging jellyfish or riptides. I am also not a strong swimmer, so I did not go out very far from shore. But despite my anxieties and fears, the sea was beautiful and it was an amazing experience.

I want to travel by sea in the future even if I am afraid. I just don't know exactly why.

Not really! Even though I am not an expert swimmer, I love the sea. It has a calming effect on me.

This is a difficult question for me. As someone who lives near the shore, hence my name, I'm not exactly afraid of it. I'm more aware of the dangers that it can bring to anyone. I think that as long as you know how to swim and you know some basic safety skills, you'll be fine. It's rare - but anything can happen.

While I love the sea, I much prefer it from the beach. Deep water certainly makes me quite scared. I think as well that its just being completely out of your own element with being at complete mercy of the sea which throws me. I would not want to go on a sea journey.
