In the book, we get multiple perspectives. In one perspective, we see how life was for Sarah and all the things that she had to endure. In another perspective, we see Strong Heart and all of her challenges.

What similarities do these two characters have? What are their differences?

I think that both Strong Heart and Sarah are early teens. When Sarah lost her finger, it meshed with the Strong Heart story.

They differed in ways, too. In the beginning, Sarah seemed to be the typical teenager who didn't want to be bothered, yet Strong Heart showed bravery and dedication to those she was traveling with.

I think the main similarities is the strong will and bravery they both have.

Sarah and Strong Heart are actually the same person, so they share the same characteristics.

I agree. Sarah entered the story as a determined young girl, which could be seen when she decided to leave the camping group and was returned being carried by an equally determined Myra. Her experiences during her 'lost' time enabled Sarah to develop and strengthen her inner qualities, as well as open her mind to greater understanding and knowledge.

A couple of things I noticed were the loss of a finger, their strong attitude and determination, their strength to keep going in hard times, and their desire to seek and know the truth. They were both very strong characters, and I couldn't help but wonder if maybe Strong Heart was actually an ancestor to Sarah.

Those are definitely the biggest attributes that they have in common.

Sarah faces many challenges for example she is an orphan, two family members attempt to rape her she is attacked by a wild cat , which costs her a finger, in her narration when she disappeared she darts a bear , she paddles canoe until her hands ache so her colleagues do not ridicule her , she stands up to granddad Tom when he doesn't believe her spotting a short faced bear . Her character can only aptly be descried as strong heart

They are the same person, so I didn't notice much difference between them.

They're the same person, surviving in different generations. Strong hearted in both.

It is the same person, so the similarities are to the maximum possible extent. Just the surroundings are different. The inner soul is the same.

Great points. These are the traits which are hard to find in a single person.

Sarah is someone who has a strong heart.
She managed to overcome all sorts of psychological traumas as she was left alone with new faces for the first time without her real parents. She had all the capabilities to prove beyond their reasonable doubts that age is just nothing but a number. Meaning she was able to make her self comfortable in all angles of life.

It's not strange faces who provide discomfort. It's often their attitude and behavior towards us that is the problem.
