I agree that it all worked out in the long run, and that her heart was in the right place. I just feel like it was something she should have discussed with Marty first. Divorce is a sensitive issue, so you should approach those individuals involved accordingly.

I think in situations of non emergency you have time to think of the best way to handle something. If Jennifer just had to tackle this subject on Thanksgiving, she could have pulled Marty and his ex-wife aside to discuss it properly. Her decision, while with the best of intentions, was rash. She wasn’t considering the kids and their feelings either.

I think it's a lose/lose situation. Thanksgiving is not appropriate to bring up family drama, but at the same time, when are they all going to get together and hash it out? There's no good way to do something like tat, but ruining a holiday has lasting consequences that can spoil the season every year.

I thought she had really good intentions, but I also felt she was crossing a line too early because she was new to the family. I also thought she was taking charge because she was used to be a leader.

I agree that people can be a little extra-touchy in the beginning of a relationship. In the very least I think Jennifer should have approached Marty before the dinner to let him know of her plan.
