My reading goal is 100 books for 2016. Goals are to keep up to date with reviews, approach more authors for ARCs to read and review, read the books on kindle and the hard copies I own and limit book buying expeditions, increase my use of the library and Overdrive digital loans for new releases and being patient for them to get to the library, Barnes & Noble shopping only as a reward system for meeting my goals, keep track of 2016 reads here and Gooodreads.

My goal is one book per week so that will be 48 for an entire year. I will go for 50. Keeping my fingers crossed here :D

Scott wrote:Hey, everyone, I want to make sure the reading goal tracking features with Bookshelves here at OnlineBookClub.org are better than at Goodreads. I have the advantage that the moderators and I can listen to each of you one on one and take your feedback and suggestions to learn exactly what you would like to get out of it. I'm not sure if people would like to get harassing email reminders to add books to their to-read shelf if they haven't been adding them in a timely manner... ?

I'm trying to brainstorm more ideas. Please throw out as many suggestions or requests as you can! :D
Scottie @Scott Scott Hughes 2Hot2Scott! Help me, I'm so confused!!! How do we update our progress on the 2016 reading challenge? Mine didn't update and I just added the two books to my shelf that I have already read this year. Is there something special I have to do to make it happen now? A magical button to click on?

You took the words right out of my mouth. I started a book a few days before the New Year and finished it last night. My progress on the 2016 reading goal is still at 0%, even updating my Shelves.

I am going to delete the book and then add it back - maybe the book had to be added in 2016 instead of in 2015 (was first "currently reading").

Update: I deleted the book and then added it back, so that the book would be added completely in 2016. My reading goal is still at 0% progress. :(

I was wondering the same thing. I finished two books that I also started before the New Year, and I don't see any progress on mine either. :(

I don't think the problem is when the book was added since I tried deleting my book today and then adding it back again. Hopefully, it's a minor glitch that can be easily fixed.

The percentages should show now. Sorry for the delay.

You should also see a "time marked read" listed on the bookshelf page for any book in your read shelf.

Once this time is set, it won't be re-updated.

You do not need to remove a book from your shelves and re-add it for it to be counted as read in 2016. You would simply need to move it to your 'read' shelf in 2016, assuming it hasn't been moved there before 2016.

Cool. :) Of course, now I feel like the lowly 3-percent reader - ha ha ha. It's always better when half the year is over and it's looks like I read a lot!

My challenge for this year is to read at least three books each month. Last year it was five but it turned out to be hard for me. Not hard as in I didn't have time to read five books but I was only reading those five books and it wasn't really fun, because I felt like I didn't even enjoy reading anymore and I was only doing it because I had to. Hopefully this year I go back yo actually enjoying reading each book I read.
