Hi, I am going to try the following challenge next year (2019). I will put 12 pieces of paper in a jar, each with a challenge for each month. The challenges are as follows:
1. Read a book with 500+ pages
2. Reread a favourite book
3. Read a 2019 debut book
4. Read a book that someone else picks
5. Listen to an audiobook
6. Read a book that you DNF'd/gave up on
7. Read a new-to-you author
8. Read a book that is not a novel
9. Read/watch a book and its adaptation
10. Read an award-winning novel
11. Read a classic novel
12. Read a series finale

This actually sounds like a really fun idea! I don't know if I would put it in a jar, I may just go down the list!

Sounds good too! I like the idea of selecting one at random, though.

Coolest thing to do no need of a jar

My challenge for this month is "listen to an audiobook". It will probably be Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen.

I kind of like this idea for my "live" book club. It might inspire us when we're looking for something different.

This sounds like a fantastic and fun way to read! Challenging yourself with a bit of a twist! I'm going to try this myself! Thank you for an awesome suggestion!

Listening to Sense and Sensibility was amazing! This month I picked out "Read a book that you DNF'd/gave up on." I have a lot of those; it occurs to me that a good recipe for DNFing a book is to start reading it when nine months pregnant ... So, it's high time I picked up Mad, Bad and Sad: A History of Women and the Mind Doctors from 1800 to the Present by Lisa Appignanesi again.

My challenge for March was to read a book with 500+ pages. I am some of the way through one, but last month's was also that long!

This is such an interesting idea! Obviously being the end of March I would have to adjust some, but I think this is a great plan.

I like the idea of a challenge list, put in a jar or otherwise. It's so easy to forget all those great ideas as the year progresses. This way, you can remind yourself and stay on track.
