ARA Review by Ahana Malhotra of In It Together

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

Eckhart Aurelius Hughes' In It Together is far from just another self-help book—it feels like a deep conversation with someone who truly understands the chaos of life. Hughes’ approach is simple yet profound: he breaks down the human experience into two selves—the conscious soul and the ego-driven self. It’s not new to think about our "true self," but Hughes makes it feel accessible, almost like rediscovering something we’ve always known but ignored.

One of my favorite parts was his take on Humpty Dumpty—he doesn’t care about the fall but uses it to explain that we are not defined by our external "shell." That idea hit me hard. It’s freeing to think that even if everything falls apart, our real essence stays intact.

His commentary on the world today—wars, inequality, and human disconnect—is painfully accurate. Yet, he somehow balances this with hope, urging us to see beyond the “horror show” and embrace love. Not the cliché, fluffy kind, but love rooted in acceptance and sacrifice. When he writes, “True love is not sacrificing your happiness for another; true love is being happy to sacrifice,” I couldn’t help but pause and think about how rare and beautiful that mindset is.

If you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, In It Together offers more than advice—it gives perspective. It’s a call to wake up, not just to your own life but to how interconnected we all are. Hughes makes you want to be better, not for the world, but for yourself. Because maybe, just maybe, the world improves when we do

I would like to give it 4 out of 5.
Must read book.
