ARA Review by khatrokhat@gmail.com of In It Together

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

I don’t usually read books about philosophy because I often find them confusing and hard to follow. I’ve always been more interested in psychology and sociology since I studied those subjects in college. But when I picked up In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All, I was pleasantly surprised! It’s written in a way that’s easy to read and very interesting, even for someone like me who doesn’t usually enjoy philosophy.

One part of the book really stood out to me. It explains true love in a unique way: “True conscious love comes from and depends upon the perception of consciousness in the beloved by one who is also themselves conscious.” This means that real love happens when two people deeply see and understand each other as conscious, aware individuals. I found this idea beautiful and meaningful.

The book also talks about big ideas like unity (coming together) and empathy (understanding others’ feelings). The author has a special way of making these big topics easy to understand and enjoyable to think about. It’s a book I would recommend to anyone who enjoys learning about how we can live better lives and get along with others.

One of the most important lessons in the book is that self-discipline, self-love, and unity with the people around us are key to feeling peaceful and happy inside. These are simple ideas, but they are explained in a way that makes you think deeply about them.

One small thing I didn’t love was that the book is over 200 pages long. I think it would have been even better with fun things like drawings or reflection activities to give readers a little break.

Overall, I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. It’s thoughtful, inspiring, and worth reading, especially for its ideas about love, self-discipline, and connection with others.
