Overall, I would rate the book 3 out of 4 stars and recommend it to lovers of fantasy.
I rated it 3 stars as well for similar reasons. I think it's a common theme that people have been confused at times and I think it was due to the authors writing style..it didnt exactly flow and was hard to follow at times

The story follows the magical quest of a twelve-year-old boy, as he goes into the parallel Echo realm to search for his missing sister. I love the idea of a parallel world, where reflections (echoes) of people (sounds) live. The illustrations added to the magic of the world. I enjoyed the scene where the pets revealed their true selves. Although I didn't notice any glaring errors, the writing was a bit juvenile. Still, I liked it. The orphanage reminded me of Hogwarts with his methods of serving meals, riddles, secret passages, and scary creatures that roamed the school. I loved that Hebrew was the key to the map and to saving Echoland. I liked that animals played a large role throughout the story. I also liked the play on words such as: the dog Poudini instead of Houdini; Crystalmas instead of Christmas. I enjoyed the book, but the plot felt a bit choppy at times, the fate sealers seemed to attack without any reason, and some parts dragged (the translation section). Therefore, I gave it 3 out of 4 stars.
I do love fantasy, this book sounds wonderful!

I haven’t read the book yet but I decided to check out the description on Google Books and I must say it looks very interesting! The concept of Sounds and Echoes is fresh and I’m sure I will enjoy reading it as soon as I can lay my hands on a copy.

The adventures and fantasy in the book are quite intriguing, the creation of a parallel world is usually something I would pass but this one was a well told adventure that was irresistible.

I gave this book a 2 out of 4 stars. While I really enjoyed reading the book, at times the situations could be confusing and hard to follow. I also agree with other individuals who say there are parallels to Harry Potter in this book. I am glad I read the book, but I'd been hoping for more from it.

That's a good way of putting it - I had expected more from it too and i did find it confusing at times. Her descriptions probably made sense to her, but to someone just being introduced to her world it was hard to follow. I think the hype with all of the 4 star ratings had me thinking it would be better than it was (in my opinion)

I'm going to be honest, this isn't a book that I will usually read. Having said this I would rate this book 2 out of 4 because while the story had a premise that kept me interested in reading it, it did seem kind of choppy. I am an avid comic book fan, so the fact that there was a parallel universe was very interesting and the character will was actually well developed. However the book did seem to drag on and it did seem hard to catch up. The book did seem to be somewhat choppy as well, due to the fact that the enemies did seem to come at random and the ending was somewhat abrupt with no conclusion. The book also was a bit darker than expected and I would really only recommend this for younger readers.

Same here. The positive reviews and comments make me want to grab a copy.

Oh wow this is probably the first comment that is not completely positive.

I haven't read the book yet. However, judging by the comments and reviews of others, the book seems very interesting considering the illustrations, the school where the action takes place, and the fact that it has often been compared to Harry Potter.

I enjoyed the book and would give it a 3 out of 4 stars. The premise that Will was going to look for his sister was an emotional pull from the start. I was disappointed that the scene of Will and Emma reuniting was not given more emphasis. There were also some dark scenes that were creepy - definitely not for younger readers. The illustrations were outstanding and brought the story to life. This is a good story for readers interested in fantasy with distinctive characters and unique world building.
