This is good advice. Parents are sometimes oblivious to the content of their children's reading. I think it is every bit as important to skim the kids' written material as it is to set time limits for inter-netting and give parental rating restrictions to television programs. Thank you for your inbsight.esp1975 wrote: ↑01 Sep 2019, 16:07 When I reviewed the audio book version of The Crystillaries of Echoland I gave it 3 out of 4 stars. I really enjoyed it as an adventure book. It definitely straddles the line between middle-grade and young adult, which does mean that parents may want to read it in advance of letting younger kids read it, or read it with them, or listen along to the audio book together. This provides and opportunity to discuss some of the more violent or disturbing scenes with younger kids.

After synopsis...
It sounds a little bit of a cross between the movie "Us" and a typical YA fantasy fiction book. I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it as it seems to have a unique plot - I'm definitely looking for something I have never read before.

I agree with you in the fact that some magical aspects seem like the ones in Harry Potter. However, I think it might be because if you had magic, how else would you make good appear. It just becomes the common sense in a magical situation.gali wrote: ↑31 Aug 2019, 23:41 I finished it the other day and like it overall. The concept is original, but the world-building reminds me of Harry Potter's world. The story follows the magical quest of a twelve-year-old boy, as he goes into the parallel Echo realm to search for his missing sister. I love the idea of a parallel world, where reflections (echoes) of people (sounds) live. The illustrations added to the magic of the world. I enjoyed the scene where the pets revealed their true selves. Although I didn't notice any glaring errors, the writing was a bit juvenile. Still, I liked it. The orphanage reminded me of Hogwarts with his methods of serving meals, riddles, secret passages, and scary creatures that roamed the school. I loved that Hebrew was the key to the map and to saving Echoland. I liked that animals played a large role throughout the story. I also liked the play on words such as: the dog Poudini instead of Houdini; Crystalmas instead of Christmas. I enjoyed the book, but the plot felt a bit choppy at times, the fate sealers seemed to attack without any reason, and some parts dragged (the translation section). Therefore, I gave it 3 out of 4 stars.

I agree with your evaluation. I think it was a nice, fun read that had a magical world that was well-developed.fmd1821 wrote: ↑07 Sep 2019, 02:10 I read The Crystilleries of Echoland some time ago and rated it 4 out of 4 stars. The story is original, and the author develops it well. Considering the setting and magic of this book, I think I would recommend it to readers who love to dream while reading. It is an amazing read, and I hope I will have the chance to re-read it again soon.

I like what one reviewer wrote about Will's character of trusting his instincts and seeking other people's help which I can say as being determined but humble, that is the nature of a good leader.
