Twins?

I feel like Emily was a very downplayed character, and after they realize she is still alive, she doesn’t really do much to push the plot forward. What are your thoughts?

I agree! She was so important for setting up the story, but then more or less dropped out it entirely. I was a bit disappointed.

I agree. The entire book began on the premise of finding Wills sister. He then finds her immediately and then nothing. I thought it would be a book about the quest and adventures to find his sister, but he wakes up in Echoland to her standing over him. It's not exactly how I would have written the story lol

Indeed. Emily does help out, but she stays mostly in the background doing things to support the main quest. Maybe if there's a sequel, characters like her and Valerie could get the spotlight.

I agree. I felt like when Will first sees her in Echoland, their reunion wasn't realistic. I was also hoping/expecting a more grand reunion between Emmy, Will, and their parents in the end.

I definitely thought Emily would have more of a role in the story after the initial emphasis was on finding her! I was disappointed that she didn't. I was also disappointed in the way Will found her - immediately, standing over him when he woke up. There was no adventure in searching for her, she was just there and then pretty much insignificant after that.

I agree. The focus was on clearing the twins' father's, the King, name and restoring Kingship to William. Emily was pushed to the sidelines to help Wil and Wolfea secretly.

I agree completely! I was expecting much more involvement on her side in the story but after Will actually found her, her character was not given that much importance! There was so much scope there!

I agree! I absolutely love this book, but this is its biggest downside. The story revolves around finding Emily, but then she does not seem an important character. What a pity.

I agree! The main reason for Will to cross over into a new land is to find her, yet when he does it's nothing really that special. I thought she would be the focus of the book. I think I would have been more interested if he had to go through an entire book trying to rescue her and bring her back.

Yes Emmy was very downplayed! She was extremely important to the initial plot. I think it would have made sense for her to go on all the adventures with Peter and Will. I’ve seen comparisons to the Harry Potter series, and Emmy could have been like Hermione’s character.

I was confused. Emmy's Echo was supposedly assasinated as an infant. Is that why Emmy's Sound was trapped in Echoland? Is that why Will gives up on bringing her back?

I agree! After being found you would have thought she would have been in on more of the adventures. But it seems like Valarie had the leading female role.

I was wondering about this as well... The story starts out with Will's primary motivation being to find his lost sister Emmy, but then he finds her and the plot takes a sharp turn... I still thought the book was very well-written, but this twist struck me as odd.

Yeah they basically just group hug. If my child was missing for 10 years I'd be doing much more than that!
