Something so evident is that, the journey of self-discovery is characterized by discipline, diligence and consistency. The four men set rules of the journey, sticks to them and they develop discipline.
[/quote]

Setting the rules and sticking to them was one of the strengths of the book, and the men did us proud. Considering the circumstances. Discipline is the key.

Before posting on the discussion board, I ensured that I had all of my notes on this book, but there was nothing to identify the main character. I wonder why the author chose to do this?

I am thoroughly enjoying this book; it has everything: action, friendship and subtle funny moments. I love the whole concept of taking a yearly adventure--not all of us are afforded the luxury of taking a week off from our lives--and it is in these adventurers that the men learn things about themselves that they never knew. The writing flowed smoothly, and the characters were quite entertaining, especially when giving each other a hard time.

I am about halfway through the book and I honestly have nothing negative to say! I think this is my favorite Book of the Month that I have read thus far.

I give it 4 out of 4 stars and would recommend it to readers who enjoy fast-paced books that have an element of adventure and boast well-developed characters!
I'm so intrigued after reading your thoughts on this book! I've found the last several book BOTMs lacking, so I'm excited to get going on this one. Please update when you've finished to let me know if you've found a good reason for keeping the protagonist unnamed.
I went back looking for it for a while, thought I just missed it. Brilliant idea having no name.

I have yet to read the book but no one else has pointed out that the book is more than just about travel. Thanks for this information I love books that have lessons to learn from.

I have read the book and rate it 4 out of 4 stars. I liked the depth of the main characters and the way some bit players were developed as in the bonding with the tour guide while watching the Machu Pichu sunrise. Also liked the guys questioning their life goals and realizing that macho was not the answer to everything. Apart from finding the constant references to male junk a bit irksome, I found nothing to dislike about the book. I would recommend it to people who like adventure, introspection, travel and life questioning moments.

At first I didn’t know if I would like this book because I thought it was about men being macho on vacations but it wasn’t about that at all and I loved reading it. I loved reading of each mans journey on the trip and in life. I loved how the author corolated the journey with life experiences...being caught in a whirl pool reflecting real life, being vulnerable and taking risks. It was a great read!

I also unexpectedly loved this book, and rated it 4 out of 4 stars. I also thought that it was going to be all about macho men and stereotypical virility, but I was pleasantly surprised at how the author handled the topic of male vulnerability. He shows how men are conditioned to never talk about their emotions, and suppress their feelings constantly. He also writes about the consequences of this, like a failed marriage and burnout. I wouldn't have expected this from this type of book.

I do not think this book is for me, so I'm going to pass on this one. I think I would recommend this to other people though, mostly male readers who are into personal growth, etc.

I just finished this book the other day and I would definitely recommend it. What surprised me was how it was about more than just the yearly vacations, the protagonists struggles in his personal life and how the manly stigma affects him. Rating 3 out of 4 because it really bothered me through the whole book that the protagonist isn’t named.

:techie-studyingbrown: Since I have not read the book yet, I can not go into detail about the story. From what I have read from other reviews, it sounds like an interesting read about various adventures through travels to different regions as well as endurance and friendship. It certainly sounds intriguing.

I liked the book a lot. It has adventure, humor, enjoyment, friendship, love, and some emotional parts also. At a point, I just don't want to stop reading it and at some point, I want a phase to end. The book is good.

It has moments when someone is injured but still the person doesn't want to give up. The enjoyment they had during their trips is one of the best things I liked. They just forgot about their stressed life for that moment of time. The author explained every place and the experience of staying there very well.

But the author never told about the main character's name. But so far it doesn't make any issue as we know everything about the main character just we don't know the name.

It's a lovely book and I give it 4 out of 4 stars. I want adventure-loving people and the person who wants to know about relationships to give it a try.

Yes! I agree with everything you said. I had the worst time getting through the book and didn't like it. Some of the parts that focused on the places they visited were interesting, though. :D

I am currently reading this book and I love the humorous plot of the story. I laugh throughout the scenes, especially when the pink bracelet will be passed to another man.
