'Pillars of the Earth' ruined me!!!

Post by tizeye83 »

I have just finished reading 'World Without End', a sequel to Ken Follett's 'Pillars of the Earth'. I was swallowed up by every word, grabbing a few pages every chance I could throughout my day. I have been searching for a new book for days, and no matter what the book, I remain uninterested in any that cross my path.

Someone help! I crave more 12-13th Century England, characters that achieve prosperity, and construct amazing structures. I want to follow the lives of the less than nobility, the leading towns people, that still have their ties to manipulate the choices of those who rule the lands. I need more tormented love affairs, that always end well. I want a novel with pages that never end... or at least one that has a lot of pages.

I am looking for recommendations.

In addition a few of my favorite reads to help with suggestions:
The Jester- James Patterson
Harry Potter- all
Angel's n Demons, DiVinci Code- Dan Brown

---I like historical fiction, also archeology *the whole Indiana Jones kind of thing!
*I also love books in series- I just like to know my characters

Thanks for the help

I also loved Pillars of the Earth but have not yet read World Without End. You seem to like the same type of books I do. I do have one suggestion even though it is not historical nor is it a series. Have you read I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb? That is the only book I have read in recent years, where I actually missed the characters so much after finishing it, I had to go back and read some pages. It had the same affect on my parents. Hope this helps. I am looking forward to reading his new book when I get the chance.
