This book seems really thought-provoking! I'm curious to see how Sydney adjusts to a completely new world and society after being frozen for centuries.

The concept of WW3 is one that many writers approach with a high level of caution. However, in this book, we see events happening after WW3. I'm also intrigued by the figure that came back three hundred years after the conflagration.

I completely agree with this review. "The Conflagration" by B. Sabonis-Chafee, and I must say is a thought-provoking novel. The story is engaging, and the author does a great job of exploring complex themes like values, compassion, and ethics in a post-apocalyptic world. I particularly enjoyed the character development, especially Sydney's transformation as she navigates her new life. The author's writing style is articulate and immersive, making it easy to become invested in the story. It's a compelling and insightful read, one worth a recommendation.

This sounds like a thought-provoking read. I personally like reading books which will challenge my imagination and thoughts. The topic of History and the aftermath of historical destruction along with an intellectual way of writing sounds super intriguing. Thanks for the free copy.

The novel is quite worthy to read. It feels like it can be use for a movie adaptation because this kind of plot is one of the others that gets movie version. I like how it is reviewed meticulously.

This book presents a fascinating exploration of a post-apocalyptic world that prioritizes ethics and values, highlighting the tension between historical mistakes and the desire for a better future. The concept of reviving a cryonically-preserved individual adds an intriguing perspective, allowing readers to experience the contrast between past and future through Sydney’s eyes. Nice review.

I love a thought-provoking read, and this book seems to offer that. I wonder what it is about her memory Sydney found so disturbing that she decided to run from those helping her. I believe it all ended well for her.

Terribly sorry to say, but there is nothing mentioned in the description that appeals to my tastes. Topic after topic raised are all things I strongly disagree with, like humans kept in cryogenic freeze or find no enjoyment in reading about, like World War III, even though it looks like we are currently leading to the outbreak of it. Apologies, I prefer to pass the book, but still congrats on BOTD!

"The Conflagration" by B. Sabonis-Chafee is a captivating story about the resuscitation of a woman that was cryonically-preserved three hundred years after the conflagration era. The world was annihilated by a nuclear World War III and the survivors come together and begin to rebuild. Their memories of the mistakes made during the 21st century drove them to create a value-based, compassionate, and ethical system without repeating the past. When the woman on ice is found and brought back to the land of the living, her team does their best to acclimate her to the present world. Her name is Sydney Constance Thrasher, and she finds support from Trevor, Dr. Hillin, Ellen, Rashita and Quillin. She enters an educational program with Dr. Hillin and starts asking questions about her past. 300 years is a very long time and Sydney gets overwhelmed and risks running away. Having been on ice for 300 years one has to wonder how she will ever catch up with the current world. No matter how intelligent Sydney was 300 years ago she probably lags far behind the average person in their current time. This is an excellent sci-fi book that will make readers think about how it would feel if it happened to them.

From the review this book sounds fascinating. I love it when a book deals with close future sci-fi stuff, things that may be plausible in the near future. The subject of cryogenic science is absolutely intriguing and the fact that the main plot centers around it make me very interested in picking this book up.

I can only imagine Sydney's shock at waking up to a vastly different world, 300 years later, and how overwhelming it must be. Thanks for the review!
