Definitely not my cup of tea, because the subject this book relates to is way too grave to be considered entertaining, but then again, non-fiction rarely is. This is why it is my most disliked genre and I avoid it whenever I am able to do so. Sorry and congrats with BOTD, anyway!

“Comfort in the Wings” by Jennifer Collins is a story about love, loss of a loved one and the hope for redemption. The main character is Larissa whose son Eric has disappeared and then her daughter Emma died. The coroner told her it could take six months or more to determine the cause of Emma’s death. Larissa has a tough time getting out of bed in the morning and has not been back to work since Emma died. She has gone back to yoga class and cried during some of the poses. The instructor talked to her after class and told her she could easily tell she was suffering. Her grief is overwhelming, and I cannot imagine how she will get through it. Death is so final and the dreams she is having nearly every night wake her around 2 a.m. Her admin Shirley called several times a week, but Larissa was reluctant to answer. Her first ex-husband Stephen, who was still a good friend, called her office and told Shirley about a medical equipment opportunity that Larissa should bid on. What will it take to get Larissa back from her grief? This book is a must read for people that have lost a loved one.

It is not easy to overcome or seek joy after losing a loved one, and as someone who has gone through the same, I can relate it to Larissa. I hope Larissa will find solace and pass through the moment of grief without self-condemnation. Congratulations on BOTD!

Loss is really horrifying. I cannot imagine how Larissa felt through such loss, and more so with the fact that rationalization comes in. The loss of a loved one, indeed, is a scar that can never heal. The book sounds like an informative read.
Many thanks for the review. :tiphat: :tiphat: :tiphat:

I appreciate the reviewer's efforts to bring out the main themes in the book. Larissa's story of loss is both relatable and intriguing. While we all fear death, the pain if losing someone, especially a child is usually unbearable. I have just read a sample of this book and I look forward to finishing it.

I read a sample of this book about a mother who loses two children, one to death and one because he goes missing and I it left me both sad but also with a hunger to read more. And I love a story with extremely good and realistic conversations, so thanks for highlighting that in your review!
