I am reading this currently for a review. While the characters and story are interesting, the book itself has a lot of typos, grammatical errors, and point of view shifts that, at least to another writer, are distracting. Some of the scenes/action become dragged out or repetitive at times, too.
If the story ends at the level it has the potential to achieve, then I will hope that readers can look past this. So far, this book is a good argument both for and against Self-Publishing: You have a diamond in the rough writer who probably should be discovered and may be otherwise missed, but you also have a book that would have been exponentially better with the services of a professional editor.
Hopefully the story will overcome all that. Final judgement will be reserved for the review.

Flyboy, I have been meaning to come here and let you know I read Dark Canvas. What a fabulous read--I thoroughly enjoyed the uniqueness of the book & the beautiful and unusual relationship between Kira and Shawn. It is definitely a romantic thriller. I'm so glad I read the bio info prior to reading the book. I could see how he chose the places these two lived & how it helped with the writing of the New Orleans settings & the restaurants. Having lived near New Orleans for the first 38 yrs of my life, I could visualize some of these places as I read . With that descriptive writing, I was able to step right into Kira's experiences as she was painting. Thanks for posting about the book here--I am so glad I read it and am looking forward to reading The Mask Maker. The Note From Christ sounds like it's going to be a good one as well.
