A book revolving around the friendship and sisterly bond shared by women is sure a treat to read.
Thank you for the great review.

Thanks for your review! I don't know anything about fly-fishing so the subject of the book doesn't interest me very much. I'm curious to learn about Melody's background and how she got swept into the water. It's nice that the group of women have such a strong bond. That aspect of the book interests me. I hope that each woman's challenges are able to be overcome.

This book has been the book of the day many times and even the book of the month. Based off of your review, I can see why. I think that this book wouldn't fit into any genre because it is a mix of genres. I like that each of the women have their own triumphs and struggles along the way. I think that women doing something that is traditionally thought of as a "man's thing" is inspiring too.

I do occasionally enjoy reading books that revolve around the relationships of women, especially when they are strong and positive (because they are not always portrayed in this way) yet I am not sure about the fly-fishing aspect. I can see, however, how catch and release can act as a "beautiful metaphor."

Girl power at its best! What a great accomplishment of the author to make the male-dominated sport of fly-fishing acceptable for women. I love the premise of this book, and the emphasis on female bonding is an added bonus. Thanks for your insightful review and congrats to BOTD!

The little bit that I have read is hilarious and relatable. I honestly love this book. It draws you in from the beginning. And who doesn’t love females that speak their minds and have a love for fishing? You don’t find a lot of books like this with females. YAS!!!! :D

The essence of true friendship, I think this will appeal to me, though I have no idea on fly fishing. Great review

I normally don't like books that are about warm, loving friendships so I think I'll have to pass on this one. At the same time, I agree that catch and release is wrong. I would rather just eat the fish, especially with todays economy affecting the prices of food.

I'm really impressed with the story's theme of women bonding over a typically male pastime of fly-fishing. I always like it when stereotypes are broken.

I read this book too and reviwwd it. I enjoyed the story but wished the author had made it her own memoir of her experiences with fly fishing

A beautiful review, obviously inspired by a beautiful book. All of a sudden, I feel like going on a fly-fishing expedition. My to read list is already clogged way into 2019, however, I hope to find a way to squeeze this book in my 2018 reads. Well-done for a beautiful review and congrats to the author on #BOTD.

I cannot find a proper category for this book. On the surface, it seems like a sports and outdoors book, but after diving in, it is so much more about the beauty of relationships and the incredible gift of deep bonds of friendship. The story encouraged me to invest more deeply in the friendships I already have and to always be prepared to open my heart to a new potential friend. This book is wonderfully written and the editing is nearly flawless. It unquestionably deserves the rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I highly recommend it to women of all ages who love a good story with many nuggets of wisdom and encouragement along the way.
Thanks for your reivew.

Years ago, I read A River Runs Through It and thought it was a beautiful book about family relationships told with fly fishing as a kind of philosophical back drop.

The Reel Sisters feels like the same kind of thing, but for women. I am going to put it on my Want to Read list, I just don't have time for it right now.

I may have little interest in all things fishing, but I am intrigued by these women's story of friendship. :techie-studyingbrown: Good review. :tiphat:

A fly fishing book speaking about five women and each of them narrates in the first persona about their involvement in this activity. The story also encourages one to invest more deeply in the friendships they already have and to always be prepared to open their hearts to a new potential friend.
