This book sounds great--I love novels that bring out all the "feelings". I also like books that include now-grown children's POV. Thanks!

This sounds like a wonderful read. I love following flawed characters; it adds that realism you need to really be pulled into a story. The emotional depth of the characters is also very appealing to me. Well done to the author on #BOTD

A well laid out review. It is true that to feel redemption one needs to acknowledge his wrongdoing. This fictional tale talks about complicated emotions and how humans react when things don't go as planned. If the end is unpredictable it is definitely a feather in the author’s cap.

Your review beautifully encapsulates the emotional journey in 'McDowell.' The exploration of guilt, redemption, and the intricate dynamics within Hiram's family is thought-provoking. Your mention of occasional confusion in timelines adds a valuable perspective to the narrative. Well-expressed insights!

As parents, we want to give our kids the best in the world. However, that is not always possible. We end up doing things we are not generally proud of. Those are the legacy we leave behind for our kids, making us ashamed of ourselves. McDowell is one such character as the parents can read the book and see the struggle, relate with it while kids can read it and see how their parents want the very best for them. Congratulations on the BOTD and best wishes for future projects.

Very thrilling read, best part is having to keep reading with no obvious way out of the scenarios, the fact that people handle crimes and feelings differently was well brought out by the writer and possible solutions to consider right there as humans are hard to predict let alone know what their hearts communicate. It is well edited with good grammar. Recommended for a 5 star and detective and crime readers will like this book. Congratulations on making BOTD.

Great review! I read "McDowell" last year and I loved it! The author had you hating the character at one point and loving him the next. It was a rollercoaster of emotions!

Exploring the concepts of guilt, redemption and change through such a complex protagonist seems an ambitious, compelling choice. Flawed characters wrestling with self-growth tend to resonate deeply.

A beautiful review, thank you MrsCatinTheHat (a fabulous title too 🐈). I love a book that can draw you into the adventure this way, whereby you not only read and imagine but also absolutely feel what is happening as the story unfolds. The McDowell story appears to deliver fully on this . The plot sounds complex and delightfully fascinating. I am also keenly interested in the plot offerings , due to the redemptive nature , despite the drama and tragedy of it all.Congratulations to the author!

This is a great review. I especially like how you describe how it made you feel. We all have gone through a phase where we are forced to face ourselves. Getting an objective perspective from the unknown really puts things into perspective. I love a book with an unexpected ending, so thank you for noting that! I will definitely be checking this book out after this review.

A fascinating and multifaceted character in this book, McDowell is not without his weaknesses. He can be a merciless guy at times, but he is also a devoted father, an enthusiastic climber, and a skilled surgeon. William H. Coles has penned a captivating and fascinating book. Congrats on BOTD.
