The story Miracle at Angels Bend follows Dave, Josh, Hannah, and Larina as they struggle with challenges, such as marital fidelity, drug use and abuse, and worldly ambition.

The story follows each individual as they read an anonymous book they’ve been asked to critique. This book goes through Jesus’s life as it’s depicted in the bible. It also includes questions to elicit the readers’ reflections on what Jesus means in their lives.

Dave is the critique coordinator and sets up bi-monthly meetings to discuss what they’ve read.

As the characters face challenges, the book reveals appropriate responses via the fundamental Christian belief in a literal interpretation of the bible. Each character has to decide how they will respond to the challenge facing them. Will they turn to Jesus and put their faith in him? Will they overcome the challenge? These questions pull the reader through the story. In addition, the identities of those who wrote the book and who asked for the critique add to the story’s appeal.

The author includes in-text citations for biblical passages and a bibliography for other works referenced in the story. The inclusion of chapter and verse makes it easy for the reader to review the passage in the bible for additional clarity.

The author also lists questions at the end of the story for the reader’s personal reflection. Additionally, a free downloadable facilitator guide is offered in order to help those who want to facilitate a group discussion of the book.

The book is well-edited, with only three minor errors that don’t detract from the reading experience. The author does a good job covering Christian beliefs, focusing on Jesus. The book could be useful in group discussions in a church environment. I rate this 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for those following this faith tradition.
