While reading, I noticed the author kept citing the bible in the book, even where he was obviously using poetic license. I felt this was really distracting and also made it seem as though his interpretation were as seen in the bible.

Did you also notice this?

I did. But I felt it is to show that most of the background facts he relied on came from the Bible.

I noticed the Bible citations as well, and I believe that since many readers will be curious to what extent his writing was based on the Bible, and where to find those parts, that this will be helpful to many.

Yes and it was a touch misleading. It sort of made it appear like the thought he was advancing was validated in the Bible.. I don't know but I had a problem with that.

Yeah I noticed it. I even saw it as being helpful to those who are not too conversant with the bible. The basics of his writing came from the Bible even though he altered it abit.

I think that was just to reference the events that he had based the part on. I didn't find it too distracting while reading.

This was the only part of the book that bothered me because most of the texts did not match with the bible verses he attached beside them. I felt it was a little misleading especially since he exercised poetic license strongly in the book.

I did notice it but it didn't affect my reading, because I felt like he cited these scriptures for reference and clarification purpose.

Yes. I think he was trying to make the story as accurate as possible. But it's all needless and confusing. The story is fictional. The reader shouldn't be expecting it to be accurate because it is not history or theology.

It didn't affect my reading. I believe it was simply for reference and citation purposes to show where he got inspired from. This book is fiction after all.
