A character being too perfect makes the book boring. Grant is a good protagonist in the sense that he was brave enough to look for his uncle.

The mistakes he made as the story progresses shows that no one is perfect with or without external interference.

Grant is a good protagonist, even though I do not think all about the main character should be good. The flaws combined with good made the storyline beautiful.

He depicts a normal human being and how trauma can affect someone. He's flawed but not boring. A perfect character would be boring for me. It's stories of defects and faults that connect with people on a deeper level.

I believe the protagonist does not need to be a good person, would be boring if we followed the story of someone who always makes the "right choice". Good people also make mistakes and choose poorly sometimes.

I don't see any thing wrong with Grant as protagonist. He is human, hence vulnerable. His ability to communicate with wolves makes him special too. No issues with him from this side.

I think Grant is a good protagonist. He is just human with vulnerabilities as any one. It helps this story to be natural and realistic. We all need a hero, I know. But being human is not bad.

Very few people can be called completely "good" or "bad." As a rule, it is their actions that are good or bad. Grant’s actions are mostly good. For example, he wants to find his uncle. Of course, sometimes he does stupid things, but basically he is quite rational.

To me Grant is a good protagonist as he portrays the things that make us human. Vulnerability to distractions make us human. I will learn from him not emulate him though.

I believe Grant was a good protagonist and that his role as depicted was perfect. I think it's us, the readers, who want the protagonists to have a better character with only a few flaws. We want them to accept their flaws and work on them, just like we want to do in our life. I liked that Grant had a grey character, perfect protagonists make the story hard to believe.

Grant was not only dedicated to finding his uncle, but he participated actively in the whole expedition showing bravery, caution and trust as well as being able to communicate with animals.
My opinion, he is a good protagonist.

For advancing of the plot yes. Every character in a text plays some role in
developing the plot and revealing roles of others and bringing out some ideas.

I think as a protagonist he shows human nature in all its flawed glory. There is a better way to connect with a character than through their human ways, good and bad.

I think Grant did the character justice.

I think no one is completely good or bad, it us impossible. Everyone is capable of having those "poor" or "good" moments depending on the motivating factor.

Grant's character did well portraying human behavior

I don't know if it's wise to see good or evil as a personalities. However, I like to think of these acts as decisions. In summary, a (good) man can make a terrible decision if he gets overshadowed by harsh circumstances and vise verse.
