The Alienation of Courtney Hoffman seems to be a well woven Sci-Fi and psychological thriller about Courtney who is visited by aliens regularly. I am sure all Sci-Fi lovers will like this one. Congrats on being the BOTD. :)

Bravo! Great review! This book sounds thrilling, and intriguing. Even as an adult I still love a good YA story. I also love sci-fi and psychological thrillers. This book definitely sounds like it is a must read for me. Thanks so much for sharing!

I enjoyed the review. I am a big sci-fi fan will pit this on my list of books to read. Have a long of want to read list but will get to it in a month or two. Like that it isn't weighted down with unneeded love interest a book doesn't always have to have love relationships in them. Almost didn't pick this book but the review turned me around.

Sounds like an excellent addition to the YA genre - I'm glad to hear it steps out of the usual tropes commonly found in YA books. It appears the author succeeded in achieving the appropriate mix of humor and sensitivity as well!

There is a YA novel without teenage-angsty romance in it? I'm definitely going to read this book, for that reason alone. I wonder if the author knows someone close to him that has a mental illness?

Your comments about overdone fluffy romance in young adult books made me laugh. I completely agree that that is usually the case and I'm also glad to learn that this book does not have that. I love science fiction and the fact this book also has many twists and turns sounds like this book is an intriguing read. Great review!

Good job on the review. I am an avid suspense fan who also reads YA. That said, not quite sure this one is for me.

Feel this review as well as the book was excellent. I agree that even though the main character is a 15-year-old girl, this would be an entertaining read for all ages. Congrats to the author on a great BOTD.

My favorite aspect of the novel is, oddly enough, something that is missing. An intense, plot-centered love interest is a common trope in YA literature, but it is blessedly absent from this book. I applaud Mr. Stefani for not going down this worn path. There are some serious things happening in Courtney's world, and frankly, nobody has time to get all mushy. This is often the case in YA books, but it rarely stops authors from throwing romance into an already jam-packed plot. I enjoyed the fact that I could focus on the adventure without having to wade through contrived, puppy-love fluff. I'm not against including romance in a story, but I've noticed that YA books tend to be over-saturated with it, sometimes to the detriment of good storytelling.
This is always my biggest problem with YA. I'm actually not a big fan of romance unless it's just a small part of the book but YA always seems to focus so heavily on pointless relationships. I wasn't really interested in this book until you said this and now I actually want to read it. Great review!

No complaints?! That's new.

This seems like a good read. It kind of reminds me of the January Book of the Month, We Are the Ants, Courtney Hoffman's character may be completely different considering the young adult section that involves the teenager being visited by aliens.

I look forward to sampling it! Thanks for your thorough review.

Great job on the review! I'm glad you liked this one so much and more importantly I love the critique you made about the love interest. I agree that they are not always necessary!
