Sometimes, we need to lose the smaller battles to win a big war.
Fighting alongside friends is the greatest asset to any soldier in war. This book, Mayhem and Solace: The Dark War by Caleb Birch, shows the depth of friendship between warriors who have strived to protect their land from dark forces. It also shows the strength and confidence every relationship gives you in its presence.

The book starts with a beautiful family, Ramsay and Irina, with their kid on a farm. They were former warriors, and most of the time, zoned out thinking of the life they could have lived. This created a rift between them, breaking them up. The story continues with how Ramsay gets back onto the field and the remaining events. Did Ramsay succeed in saving his land? Did he win back his love? Whom did he meet on this journey? Read the book Mayhem and Solace to find out more.

I liked how the story had a connection with present-day scenarios like breakups, co-parenting, etc. Ramsay's romantic part in the book was very maturely handled, with him feeling the pain and then moving on. The magic part of the book was also very intriguing to read, with short twists and turns. Characterizations in the book were not very intense and felt light to read. The leadership quality of Ramsay and Gazaunsee's unique skills was my favorite part of the book. I found no errors in the book and that it was professionally edited. I felt the death of Ramsay's friend was not necessarily needed. But I found nothing negative about the book.

I would give the book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. This is because I found the book to be inspiring and informative. Even with the suspense the book carries, the short incidents between the friends cracked me up. A feel-good book that conveys so many emotions is definitely a go-to book.

I would recommend this book to people who love reading adventure. It would also inspire people looking for stories with family aspects, leadership, and friendship.
