How suitable is the title "The Fires of Virko"? What or who(m) do you think the author tries to symbolize? Or is it just a reference to the factories and industries of Virko?

At first, I thought "The Fires of Virko" did simply refer to the industrial nature of the town, particularly as there's a description of the ash being swept up every day. However, as I read further, it became clear that there were deeper rumblings beneath the surface and I believe it is these to which the title refers. For instance, the imminent change in the system of government and the young men's meddling with demons.

When I first read the title I assumed the will be set ablaze at the end of the book, but now I think it suppose to empathize Virko's demise and maybe its highly industrialized society with a plethora of factories.

I think it can be the strong feelings, desires, and beliefs because although in different ways but every person in the story is driven and vitalized by those, just like what fire can do with many things.
(In a futher reference and broader meaning fire also is a heart of the industry, so Virko, the prosperous city that is essential to the empire could be the heart of the empire. )

I think the Fires of Virko signifies the power of the demons since there were scenes demonstrating that the demons are capable of inducing fire to a target by touching it. An instance was when the horses caught on fire when the demons touched them, and when Captain Mendus' head caught fire while Sod gripped his neck. Even the demons body are oven-like.

I think besides the fires of the industries of Virko, the title might mean the political strife in Virko and also the destruction of Virko by demons who killed their victims by burning them on touch.

I believe it is the emotional effects, aspirations, and beliefs since, in unique ways, every character in the story is powered and invigorated by them, just as fire can do with countless things.
