I rate Mama's Boy by Mike Avery 4 out of 5 stars. I love mystery novels, and this one did not disappoint. I have also read other books by this author, and I am very impressed with him. Even though this book is the third in a series, I can see it as a stand-alone book. I read it first, then liked it well enough that I returned to read the Susan Sorella series.

Mama's Boy is about a defense lawyer, Susan Sorella, and the case she is currently on. It is a murder charge of a boy, William, who is being blamed for the murder of his father. He was found holding the murder weapon and standing over the body. Not only was he charged with the murder, but he had just turned 18 days before, so he is to be tried as an adult. Susan fights to be able to take his case to the juvenile courts, bail, and even files a motion to keep him on home detention instead of in jail while the case is going on. The author definitely knows something about how the justice system goes. Not only did we read about the actual case, but the events leading up to the case. Other characters were introduced, and their stories were told along with the lead-up to the actual murder case.

I was surprised at how many times I thought I knew the real killer, and two pages later I changed my mind. The author is very good at keeping the reader guessing until the very end. 

There were a few editing errors, but nothing too bad, so they did not interfere with the reading. I had to take a star away because of it though. I would have liked to hear more about the characters' lives after the case was tried. This was one book that I did not want to end so soon. I also found that there were a couple of characters that were introduced, but I am still not sure where they fit in the story. Like Tony, why introduce him and make us second guess why he is really in a relationship when we never find out the true answer? Knowing this is the last book of the series, I am more stumped with those questions. If I knew there was another Susan Sorello Mystery book to look forward to, I may not question things so much. 

I do recommend this book to other readers. I do not believe that religion would sway the reader's judgment of the book. There are some sex scenes, but nothing too graphic, more of the knowledge that it is happening.

OK, now this book seems to be the one I would very much review. The mystery! Oh, now I am interested to learn how the boy found himself in such gruesome situation and to learn if maybe he was guilty or not, and if not, then what placed him there. Look at me yapping away. Good, good review.

Alooma! I reckon Mama's Boy by Mike Avery seems like a mighty fine read. This review gives it a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It's a mystery novel that keeps you guessing till the end, with twists and turns that'll keep you on your toes. Though there were a few editing errors, they didn't spoil the overall experience. The characters are intriguing, and while some loose ends might leave you scratching your noggin, it's a satisfying read. If you're into mysteries and don't mind a touch of romance, Mama's Boy might just be your cup of maple syrup! Gripping tension, kept me on edge.

A mystery that keeps its suspense until the end making you guess who's the murderer, so the author just needs to do another round of proofreading to make it excellent. I wonder about the loose ends, otherwise, characters and plot make it a great thriller. Thank you for your great review!
