Interesting review, does have family background have dark secrets for Hillary to write about? What benefit would this vacation bring to her and her husband Ed? This novel seems to be filled with mystery, I can't wait to read this novel. Congrats on BOTD!

"House of Eire" by June Gillam is a story about Hillary Broome and her husband Ed's vacation and belated honeymoon in Ireland. Ed will also be attending a summit for detectives and Hillary would like to learn more about her ancestors that lived in Ireland. This is the third book in a series and when dark family secrets come to light Hillary attempts to unravel these secrets and keep her family out of danger. Well written and an exciting read

Each book in June Gillam's mystery series featuring Hillary Broome draws me more into the world of these characters. Hillary is a complex, conflicted woman, but I think most of us can relate to the issues she struggles with. House of Eire is a fine character study and riveting story.

I will love to know the dark secrets mentioned in the book and how Hillary get to cope her husband, child and friend all caught up in the intrigue. I really enjoyed reading the review. Though this is the third book, the review sounds encouraging for those of us who have not read the previous books in the series. Thanks Cecilia for the detailed review.

I felt this review is insightful into what the book of the day is about, however I found the review to be a bit clunky. Especially in the middle of the review when the reviewer started talking about the character types again and restated what type of character the main person is.

I wonder what secrets this one holds out to me. I liked your review, especially your comments on the writing style. I had a different opinion about the ending, though. Still, your review gave me something new to consider.

House of Eire sounds like a really engaging mystery! It's cool how Hillary Broome's vacation to Ireland gets tangled up with her family's dark past and a friend in danger. I love that the reviewer highlighted how well-developed all the characters are, especially Hillary's relatable self-doubt and her husband Ed being so supportive.

This sounds like a wonderfully layered mystery! I love books that blend personal history with suspense, and Hillary’s journey through Ireland sounds both heartfelt and gripping. The realistic portrayal of her daughter Claire adds such charm. Definitely putting this series on my list!
