"A Wildflower in the Dark" by Michael E. Kozak sounds like a fascinating mix of mystery and the supernatural. Gret's story of loss and his unique ability to see the dead is intriguing. The inclusion of poetry makes it even richer. Congrats on BOTD!

A Wildflower in the Dark, written by Michael E. Kozak, is a unique book that mixes different types of fiction. It combines dystopian and supernatural elements in a creative way. The story takes place in the year 2192 after a major disaster has occurred. The main character, Gretan Hutchen, has faced many challenges in his life but has managed to survive against all odds. He goes on a dangerous journey that forces him to think deeply about himself and his surroundings. Gretan, who is an orphan and faces health problems, finds out he can talk to the Sleepless dead in a world ravaged by war. He talks to a Sleepless lady and learns that the Ancients, a mysterious group, want to create an army with the Sleepless dead, making the world even more chaotic. Kozak is good at building tension and creating a sense of impending disaster in the story, mixing deep questions about life and death with the struggles of society. The best part of the story is how the characters grow and change. Gretan, with his tough past and strong spirit in a world after a war, is easy to connect with as he searches for purpose and fairness. Even though the story's idea is a bit unrealistic, it really tugs at your emotions and feels very real in this mix of drama and supernatural elements. Sometimes, the story slows down in the middle with too much explaining, which makes it a bit boring. In the end, the novel does well by blending different types of genres, creating a book that is both entertaining and makes you think about life and death. It is a speculative paranormal story that is both captivating and makes you ponder.

"A Wildflower in the Dark" is written by Michael E. Kozak.

Gretan Hutchen (Gret) is the protagonist of the story. He is born at a time when the whole world is cursed with terrible wars. At the time of his birth, his mother abandons him, and he is adopted by a 42-year-old couple who have lost both their sons in the war. Gret has had autism and epilepsy since birth, yet his adoptive mother raises him with great love. Unfortunately, under mysterious circumstances, both of Gret's parents abandon him, and then Gret's grandmother raises him with the same love and pampering. The author has created this as a suspense story, maintaining the interest of the reader. Overall, this is a readable book. Congratulations on being declared 'botd'.

A lot death seems to have followed the young protagonist through out the early parts of the story. I wonder if his abilities had something to do with that. This sounds like an interesting story. Well done on the review.

This review does a great job of highlighting what makes “A Wildflower in the Dark” stand out. I appreciate how it points out the book’s balance between suspense and strong character development, which isn’t always easy to find in mystery novels. The mention of Claire’s complexity and the way the author incorporated his own dreams into the story through poetry really caught my attention. It’s refreshing to see a review that not only praises the plot but also the emotional depth of the writing. Sounds like a book worth checking out.

Sci-fi books isn't a genre that I often read, but this book was interesting. To read about the year 2160 and the things that was available at the time, I can't really amagined it. Fans of this genre will enjoy reading the book.

The part that caught my attention was the poetry in between. I read the sample and I was surprised at the author's skill in prose and poetry. This is a wonderful, thrilling book revolving around Gret, who lives in the future. I will give it a read. Thanks for the review. Congrats on the BOTD!
