And of Course, There Was the Girl by Brandon Barrows follows the character of Sam Harrigan, who is a private investigator. Sam's client has hired him to find Gabriella Cole. His client was supposed to marry Gabriella, despite only knowing her for a short time, and simply wants her to be found so that he can talk to her. Sam believes this is a simple marriage scam case. However, after investigating further, the case takes a series of unexpected turns. What does a singer who is being blackmailed with scandalous photos, a string of brokenhearted men, and 50 thousand dollars have to do with each other? Where is Gabriella? Follow the clues and grab a copy of And of Course, There Was the Girl to find out!

The mystery of Gabriella Cole did not end up as I had initially expected. Without giving away spoilers, I will say that each time I thought I had the ending figured out, a new clue would be revealed that threw my theory out the window. It was refreshing to be able to follow clues along with Sam. From helping out a singer who was being blackmailed to a mobster showing up, Sam had an exciting and terrifying case from start to finish.

The version of the book that I read did have some formatting issues. The page numbers, book title, and author name would sometimes appear in the middle of a paragraph. I believe they were supposed to be a header or footer. However, this was a minor issue and did not impact my enjoyment of the book. That was my only dislike of the book.

I rate And of Course, There Was the Girl 5 out of 5 stars. While the version I read had a few formatting issues, these did not appear to be in the published Kindle version, and they did not impact my reading experience. The book was overall well-edited, and I only noticed one small error. I thoroughly enjoyed trying to piece together the mystery of Gabriella Cole with Sam. The book does contain some strong language, so sensitive readers should keep that in mind. Fans of mystery and PI characters would enjoy this book.

A story with a missing woman, a blackmailed singer, a mobster, and a private investigator has a good chance of having an exciting plot. Your review leads me to believe that this is the case. I am adding this book to my bookshelves. Thank you for this well-written and informative review. :techie-studyinggray:

A mystery with what looks like a marriage scam, some people who are apparently non connected to each other, and a story full of twists make this novel seems engaging and suspenseful. Thank you for your great review!
