Review of The Children Whispered

[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "The Children Whispered" by Steve Sloat.]
"The Man" prays on the rich, hoping they will act exactly how he thinks they will. They always want the best of everything. Their children are the brightest and the most intelligent. Only the best schools will do for their offspring. We must be on top of everyone, and our family life is excellent. We must appear the strongest and fiercest to our competitors.
So, "The Man" had flyers sent out to one of the wealthiest communities, Bellaire, Texas. The flyers stated that a new-age daycare facility was opening for preschool children. This school was on the Montessori level, and only the best of the best would be allowed to attend. Only twenty-five children will be admitted to this prestigious school, where the children will be more advanced than the other children entering first grade next year. They will become the creme de la creme of society in the future. Parents in Bellaire who had four-year-olds leaped at the chance to get their child into that school: They filled out forms, they sat through interviews, they had their child examined and tested, and in the end, when their child was selected, they were the proudest parents that anyone could be. Something, though, was off. Something was strange about the school and its teachings, but what?
The storyline of The Children Whispered by Steve Sloat was ingenious! It kept you guessing what "The Man" was up to and why. The plot was well-developed and unimaginable. Who would want to do that to these people, to these children? How did "The Man" devise such a plan? He thought of everything; every minute detail was well thought out and planned to the slightest possibility of what might happen and why. This story's characters were developed so that you knew exactly what type of person they were. The author did a tremendous job of piecing together every puzzle piece and did some research on programming and deprogramming minds.
The book is a mystery thriller, and it will have you thinking about who and why this happened. It will surprise you how someone could devise this scheme and do things you could not even fathom. I can only rate this book 5 out of 5 stars, as it kept me on my feet trying to figure out the how and why of it all. The book was well edited, as I only found one error. This one is definitely for those who love a good mystery.
