Review of Buck
After an unexpected outcome at his last job, Buck accepts what he thought would be an easygoing mission on the mesmerizing scenic island of Greece. He was employed to protect Jules, an heiress on a pleasure trip, who was completely unaware of the dangers threatening to destroy her country's government. A deadly plot planned by someone she never thought would go to great lengths to cause her harm. An attack that not only targeted her but could also mean devastating destruction to an unsuspecting country. It was a criminal conspiracy that could affect international peace. What was the plan, and who was behind it? Will Buck be able to thwart the attacker's attempts? You must get a copy of this book to find out!
Buck Starr, the author of this thrilling novel, has filled the book with exciting action sequences that will make it hard to put the book down. I was impressed with the descriptive scenes and could easily picture this as a movie adaptation. Buck's character is undeniably admirable, with him playing the part of a knight in shining armor. However, I'm glad the author did not reduce Jules's character to that of a cliched damsel in distress. On the contrary, she portrayed a wise, strong, stable-minded, independent princess who rightfully deserves the role she was about to play. For instance, even in an incredibly dangerous situation, she did not hesitate to step out as bait to lure her attacker. I enjoyed both their characters; as an incurable romantic, I couldn't help but wish for their stories to have a sweet romantic ending.
I recommend changing a couple of things in this book. Firstly, I noticed the formatting is not up to the mark. Some paragraphs had many line breaks, leaving one-half of the page blank. The first letter of the starting paragraph in each chapter presumably was supposed to be in a different font; however, on my Kindle version of the book, it was displayed separately from the rest of the paragraph. Another issue was the grammatical mistakes or typos and quite a few capitalization errors. For example, the word "country" was capitalized in many instances. These issues caused a minor distraction for me while reading.
If the issues mentioned above were to be corrected, I think the book would easily earn a perfect score. However, as of now, I regretfully give it a 4 out of 5 stars. I deducted one star mainly because of the errors and the formatting issues. Regardless, I think this book has potential, and the book's plot and the characters have made me want to read the other books in the series.
I recommend Buck to fans of suspense-filled, action-packed crime thriller novels. It hints at a budding love story, so romantic fiction lovers will also enjoy the book. It has its fair share of profanity; although not out of place, I would not recommend it for a younger audience.
