Buck by Buck Starr is a fictional adventure for adult readers. The protagonist, Buck, is an assassin and contract operative about to take on a life-changing mission.

Buck receives a commission to meet and become friendly with a distant heir to the throne of Mujistan, a small kingdom bordered by Russia and the Caspian Sea. Recently, the King of Mujistan had died suddenly, making his last remaining sibling the heir. Jules, a Mujistan Princess, is the next in line to the throne, which is contested vehemently by her cousin Ta. Ta believes it is his birthright to take the throne and that Jules would squander the fortunes of the Crown with benevolent acts of charity. Turkey’s secret intelligence uncovers a deadly plot to assassinate Jules whilst on vacation on the Greek islands. Ta intends to masquerade her murder as a terrorist attack on Greece and claim his takeover of Mujistan. Buck takes on the job as an opportunity to spend time in a beautiful spot and use his expertise to stop a bad guy with an evil plan. This job, however, is not as straightforward as it seems, with Buck experiencing more than he bargained for.

Buck is a fantastic character. He makes a lethal and exceptional assassin. Buck is an expert in his field. The details of how he achieves his professional goals whilst staying anonymous are fascinating. I loved the descriptions of reconnaissance and how he navigates his profession, leaving no traces of himself behind. Attention to detail immerses the reader in the secret world of a contract operative. The book provides constant action and suspense, making it a real page-turner. I particularly enjoyed how the character displayed humour throughout the book despite the seriousness of his job and the constant danger surrounding him.

The plot line is fabulous. The good guys are great, and the bad guys are the epitome of evil. The location is fantastic, with the book giving a great impression of Greece and its islands, with the hustle and bustle of popular tourist destinations and the outstanding scenery. The story never lacks momentum, and you join the characters on a roller coaster of a nail-biting ride. The story includes secret intelligence, royal scandals, political unrest, terrorism, assassination plots, and romance, resulting in a tale that would be perfect for a movie. I enjoyed the pace and excitement and became invested in the characters. I enjoyed the comedic conversations and sarcastic banter between characters, giving the writing an extra edge.

The book is professionally edited. I loved the story and all the characters. I especially liked the lead character, Buck. I found him fascinating, funny, and accomplished. I enjoyed the locations in the story. Using Greece as the backdrop gave the book an exotic feel, and I loved the descriptions of the Mujistan Palace, with its opulence and grandeur. I loved the action, suspense, and insight into a specialised and dangerous occupation. I found nothing to dislike about the book, so I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

I am a fan of mystery and crime thrillers. Characters like Buck also would be interesting to follow in their jobs in the plot. Your review is amazing.

Buck sounds like a fascinating character with a great mix of skill, humor, and intrigue. The suspense, action, and exotic setting in Greece really grab my attention. The plot seems full of twists and high stakes, and I’m definitely curious to see how Buck navigates this dangerous mission. I’ll be adding this one to my reading list for sure.
