Life After Death: Book One by Emory D. Lynn is a fascinating blend of psychological thriller, drama, paranormal mystery, and science fiction. Our storyteller is JC Merrick, a seventeen-year-old orphan and emancipated minor. JC lives with Kip, his Goldendoodle, on a large family estate. JC’s parents were killed in a car accident, and soon after, JC drowned and suffered a clinical death. Still grieving for his parents, JC has yet to adjust to the new normalcy of his solitary life and make sense of these life-shattering tragedies when he suffers a vicious intrusion in his house. Using his dad’s shotgun, JC survives the attack, killing the perpetrators. Curious to find clues about the intruders, JC and Kip explore the estate but discover only two footprints and a few small broken branches. Who is attacking JC and why? Will his friends and contractors be able to protect JC?

Reading Emory D. Lynn’s Life After Death, I instantly took to JC and Kip and enjoyed every moment of their special bond. I loved the atmosphere of immense support JC’s friends, lawyer, doctor, and contractors extended to JC. I learned fascinating facts about the security system JC’s contractors were designing and how to cook asparagus and cut and grill steaks. But most of all, I liked the thought-provoking terrains this story explored, especially the human resilience to tragedy, the role of wealth, and the impact of DNA experiments on human lives.

I enjoyed every episode, and I disliked nothing. So, I happily rate this book five out of five stars and look forward to my reunion with JC, Kip, and JC’s support team in the sequel.

I highly recommend this novel to teenagers because it offers an illustrious example of overcoming life’s rough patches. In addition, I highly recommend this novel to mystery, sci-fi, and psychological thriller fans.

A powerful story of resilience and survival with a mix of mystery and sci-fi that keeps things intriguing. JC’s bond with Kip and the support from his friends add a heartwarming touch, making it even more compelling.

This is a paranormal thriller about a boy who literally dies and then is revived just to be forced to live on his own following his parents' death. I might be old for this kind of story but the food for thought and JC's struggle seem well-constructed. Thank you for your great review!
