Living in the city as an investment banker has consumed Cash Kristiansen's personal life. One day, he receives numerous calls from his aunt Sigrid, who asks him to urgently come to Salt Cliff Isle. Concerned, Cash leaves for the island the next morning. However, his arrival is met with a discovery that leads him to extend his planned stay on the island—a dead body. The once peaceful island now had a mystery. Who is the murderer? What could be the reason for the murder in such a town?

Mystery creates intrigue. George Robstad kept me intrigued throughout the book. The book is not only mysterious; it is a journey of self-discovery as the author emphasizes the importance of discovery and acceptance through the lives of various characters on the island, such as Kieran and Jamie. Reading the book made me think about my present life choices and reflect on whether or not I am indeed where I should be. I loved that. I appreciated the point of view used in the book. It allowed me to understand the characters, their backgrounds, and their choices. Then, I found it very easy to keep up with the characters. I had believed that a new setting in the book would lead to numerous complicating characters. This was not the case. However, as a lover of mystery, I honestly wished I had more suspects. I was restricted to the character Cash suspected throughout the book. While this made the book easy to follow, I wanted the thrill of having my own suspicions about the characters and their motivations for having committed the murder.

"Sandbakkels and Sin" was an amazing read. The negative aspect I mentioned above did not have any effects on my satisfaction with the book, as I enjoyed trying to figure out the puzzle with the recipes and what the significance of Cash's findings were at different times. The author did an amazing job editing the book; I found only an error. For these reasons, the book receives a rating of five out of five stars from me. The author paid great attention to detail in describing the locations in the book that I found myself lost in them while I read. Lovers of crime, thrillers, and mystery books will love this. You will also find amazing recipes for sandbakkels and lecom curd in the book as a wonderful bonus.

I don't mind a murder mystery in which the detective has just one suspect as long as the story is well-constructed, which seems to be the case. I'm curious about the recipes, though I'll probably not try to make sandbakkels and lecom curd. Thank you for your great review!
