Classic Princess stories with a Twist

Have you read the Once Upon A Time series? It's written collectively, and they're all retelling classic fairy tales. They're absolutely smashing, in my opinion. I highly recommend them.

Ella Enchanted is my favorite twist on Cinderella. A few years ago, Anne Hathaway stared in a movie remake of the book. it was once upon a time my favorite, most adored movie... that is, up until i read the book and realized that it is 1000 times better than the cheesy, terrible movie. lol.

I too watched the movie a decade ago and loved it then. I have the book in my To be read pile. After this comment, I will surely read it ASAP.

I love the author Shannon Hale. She writes these kinds of princess stories with twists. I especially love her series The Books of Bayern. I also love Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine. She also wrote The Two Princesses of Bamarre which is also great.

One of my very favorites is The Golden Princess and the Moon by Anna Maria Mendell. I HIGHLY recommend it. It is a retelling of sleeping beauty and it is sooo good, and also very different from the original.

The Alchemist had a good twist. I didn't know where the treasure was so as many readers. I think I loved the twist the most.
